Foldable display guide
Compare popular foldable phones by their cover and main displays. See how large each device feels when folded and unfolded, how much usable screen area you get, and why two screens with similar diagonal measurements can behave very differently.Device data last verified 2026-02-01.

Rankings are generated from the same specs as the table above. Compactness uses folded width × height in millimeters, not display diagonal.
Phone and tablet screen size is quoted as a diagonal in inches. That single number hides the shape of the panel. Foldables are usually squarer than tall slab phones, so the same diagonal can mean more reading area but less full-screen 16:9 video.
| Example | Diagonal | Aspect | Panel area | 16:9 video area |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Large slab phone | 6.3 inches | 19.5:9 | 14.8 sq in | 12.02 sq in |
| Book-style foldable (open) | 7.6" inner | 4:3 | 28.1 sq in | 20.93 sq in |
| Compact tablet | 11 inches | 4:3 | 56.4 sq in | 46.58 sq in |
Fold like a book: a tall cover phone outside, a wide inner display for multitasking when open.
Good for: Email, spreadsheets, reading, side-by-side apps
Filter table by book-style →Fold vertically like a clamshell: compact when closed, full-height phone when open, with a small cover screen on the outside.
Good for: One-handed use, selfies, quick glances on the cover display
Filter table by flip →Multiple hinges unfold into a very wide panel — closer to a portable tablet than a phone.
Good for: Maximum canvas for creative work and video (fewer models on the market today)
Filter table by tri-fold →We only list CSS viewport widths and heights that have been verified on real hardware. Guessing from resolution and DPR is not reliable on foldables because scaling, cover vs inner modes, and browser chrome differ by model. Use the live viewport checker on your device, or browse verified rows below when available. Open the viewport checker.

On desktops, 1920×1080 remains the volume king, with 1440p and 4K rising on larger monitors. On phones, most panels land in the 1080–1440 pixel-wide range. Here is what that means for everyday use and responsive design.
The iPhone 17 is 6.3 inches, the iPhone Air 6.6 inches, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max 6.9 inches. This chart lists every iPhone 17 model's screen size, resolution, pixel density, aspect ratio, and approximate CSS viewport width.
Learn how screen size affects web design and user experience. Discover best practices for responsive layouts and improving engagement across devices.
For most people, the best dual-monitor setup is two 27-inch monitors at 1440p. It gives you a large, matched workspace without overwhelming a normal desk. Tighter desk? Go 24-inch pairs. Heavy multitasking? Consider 27-inch plus ultrawide.
On phones, 100vh often counts space behind the browser UI, so full-height layouts jump or overflow. 100dvh follows the visible viewport. Use this guide plus the live CSS viewport units tool to pick vh, dvh, svh, or lvh.
The Galaxy S25 measures 6.2 inches and the S25 Ultra 6.9 inches. This guide lists every Galaxy S25 and S26 model's screen size, resolution, pixel density, aspect ratio, refresh rate, and approximate CSS viewport width in one chart.
